Our Yorkshire Farm: Amanda Owen gives responsibilities to daughter

Amanda Owen’s mum is reportedly “gobsmacked” at news about the marital troubles she is having with husband Clive.

The 47-year-old star of Channel 5 documentary series Our Yorkshire Farm is battling to save her 21-year marriage with Clive, 67, as the stresses and strains of life have started to squeeze hard on the family.

Amanda has proved to be a breakout star as viewers took to the Yorkshire shepherdess and her nine children with Clive, as the documentary followed the trials and tribulations of life on Ravenseat farm in Swaledale, North Yorkshire.

It has been reported that Amanda is currently living in their rental property down the road from the farm as Clive stays with the children in the farmhouse at Ravenseat.

While the couple are reportedly “the talk of the village”, Amanda’s mum Joyce said she was none the wiser about the state of her daughter’s marriage.

Addressing their marital woes, she admitted: “I am gobsmacked.”

Joyce said that Amanda had not told her anything about what was happening with Clive.

Speaking to MailOnline, Joyce continued: “There was absolutely no hint of any trouble.

“We watched the programmes on the television, and it did not look like there was anything wrong.

“I have had no contact with anyone. I just don’t know anything.

“As far I am concerned their marriage is rock solid.”

The couple had addressed their marital problems in a statement that they released to PA news agency on Thursday.

They said: ““With the TV show and the books we’ve always aimed to show the reality of life on the farm, and just like any marriage we have our stresses and strains, coupled with all the complexities of what we do on the farm and bringing up nine kids.

“We’re a normal family and we’ve never said our marriage is perfect.

“Unfortunately the constant intrusion into our lives from the media has amplified a rocky patch that we’re going through.

“We ask that the media respect our privacy as we work through this.”

Clive was previously married to his first wife for 13 years before he met Amanda and is reportedly “desperate” to save their marriage but “fears” they will divorce.
