We have a special relationship with Haiti. Since we speak French, many people assume that we are of Haitian descent. Although we are not, we have many friends and family members who are Haitian and have learned firsthand about the struggles in their homeland. After witnessing the devastation caused by natural disasters and the abuse at the US-Mexico border, we decided to do what we know how to do best: create a candle to raise money towards the Haitian relief effort.
