Kerry Katona claims she was booted out of Atomic Kitten because of pregnancy

Kerry Katona has claimed that she was booted out of the girl band Atomic Kitten because she was pregnant “with one of the guy’s from Westlife’s baby”

Kerry Katona has opened up about her Atomic Kitten exit, explaining how she thinks she was booted out because she was stealing the focus.

She reflected on leaving the group as she touched upon the rumours of the potential Little Mix split in her new! magazine collumn.

The former singer said that the rumours about Little Mix splitting up made her think about when she was in Atomic Kitten and revealed her thoughts behind being replaced in the group.

Kerry shot to fame when she was a part of the iconic girl band in the early noughties and was a fixture in the band from 1998 until her first departure in 2001 and again from 2012 until her second departure in 2017.

“There were no split rumours when we were together because they had already replaced me before I left and I think it was all planned,” she penned.

Kerry explained that she didn’t want to be in the band anymore “because the focus was always on me and that I was pregnant with one of the guy’s from Westlife’s baby.”

She then wrote about how she sensed resentment building up within the group.

“I never wanted to be a singer – I just wanted to entertain,” touching upon her time in the band, she explained how she loved being on stage with the girls, and having fun with them.

Kerry’s comments come amid rumours that Little Mix are going to split, following Jesy’s exit and two of the band members becoming mothers.

Appearing on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp earlier this week, they insisted they had no plans to split up.

Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock told Roman, “Little Mix are forever” and that “we never want that to be over, never ever ever.”

Last year Jesy Nelson quit the band in a dramatic exit that has been rocking the world of music recently after the star launched her solo career.

Since then, there have been constant rumours that they would all go their separate ways, with reports of the three of them being offered other projects away from Little Mix.

Co-host Sian Welby pressed the girls, asking them: “We’re obviously buzzing, every single bop is on there, but because it’s a greatest hits album, and we’ve seen this in the past, Spice Girls, you know, all the other big bands, are you taking a hiatus after this album?”

Jade chimed in: “Oh you had to ask,” before declaring: “Little Mix is forever isn’t it.”

After more discussion between the presenters and band mates, Perrie spoke to the other co-host Sonny Turner, where she said: “I think no matter what Little Mix do, whether we venture out individually, whatever we do, Little Mix is forever, like Jade said.

“We’ll always stick together, we’ll always tour, we’ll always do things together as a group, because, Little Mix is just, it’s fire.

“And I hate to say it, what we have is something special and we know that, and we know that Little Mix as the three of us is so so strong, so we never want that to be over, never ever ever.”
