Prince William and Kate Middleton have arrived on the red carpet for the annual Royal Variety Performance.

The couple, attending the annual event for the fourth time, have dressed to impress, with the Duchess of Cambridge wearing a stunning recycled green gown by Jenny Packham for the occasion.

The bejeweled dress appears to be covered in sequins and accompanied by a matching forest green glutch, also by Jenny Packham. Kate was seen arriving at the event with curled hair draped to one side.

And her husband, the future heir to the throne, could be seen in a velvet blue tuxedo jacket, which was paired with a white shirt, black trousers and a black bow tie.

The sold-out event, held this evening at the Royal Albert Hall in London, will be hosted by comedian Alan Carr, with performances by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sir Rod Stewart and Jane McDonald – who is “honoured” to be involved.

The annual variety show is staged in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, whose patron is currently Queen Elizabeth II. Funds raised from the event go to people from the entertainment industry who are in need of help.

This year’s event is particularly special as it marks 100 years of Royal patronage from the reigning monarch, with King George V having become the charity’s first patron in 1921.

And the charity said its use of the Royal Albert Hall was “very fitting” because the venue, which was opened by Queen Victoria, is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

Senior royals attend the event each year, with Prince William and wife Kate Middleton returning tonight. It’s the fourth time that the couple have been the royal guests of honour, having previously attended the event in 2014, 2017 and 2019.

The charity previously said it was “delighted” that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be attending this year. It said that “everyone is looking forward to welcoming” them.

The Royal Variety Performance will be filmed and broadcast on ITV in December. A date has yet to be announced.
