Guilt can play a large role in our sexual experiences.
For some people, the guilt is centred around specific sexual activities, or even pursuing the activity at all.
One sexual activity that’s often accompanied by guilt, especially at a young age, is masturbation.
Even if most people do it, we don’t talk about it much, and we especially don’t talk about how often we do it or the way we do it.
Another source of guilt for some people is fantasizing during sex.
Because fantasizing is seen as a sign you’re not attracted to your partner, or that something’s wrong with your relationship, you may end up feeling guilty after sex.
There’s nothing wrong with fantasizing during sex – even if it’s about someone else than the person you’re sleeping with.
If fantasizing heightens sex for you or is sometimes a necessary means to pleasure – go for it!
What role has guilt played in your life, generally?
