Deadliest Catch star Mahlon Reyes’ cause of death confirmed as tragic drug accident

Deadliest Catch star Mahlon Reyes sadly died at the age of 38 following a drug overdose, it’s been reported.

The television personality – known for being a deckhand on one of the crab fishing boats – died in July 2020 after reportedly suffering from a heart attack.

According to TMZ, Reyes’ cause of death has since been linked to acute cocaine intoxication.

Flathead County Sheriff and Coroner, Brian Heino, also reportedly told the publication that Mahlon’s death has been ruled as accidental.

A representative for Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has been approached by The Mirror for comment.

Mahlon’s friends and family were left shocked to hear of his death in his hometown of Whitefish, Montana, last July.

The television star had no previous health conditions when he suffered a heart attack that left him on life support.

The Deadliest Catch star never regained consciousness and his family decided to take him off life support.

Mahlon was survived by his wife, Heather Sullivan, and their four children.

According to his wife, some of Mahlon’s ashes were scattered into the Bering sea by his crew mates, while more ashes were placed in Montana’s Swan Range mountains.

Mahlon was one of the crab fishermen that starred on the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, a gripping television series that first aired in 2015.

Prior to his tragic death, the fisherman worked as a deckhand on both the Seabrooke and Cape Caution boats and had appeared in 14 episodes.

Tributes poured in for the television personality following news of his tragic death.

“Family times. Laughing, crying and remembering our brother Mahlon Reyes of the Summer Bay,” reflected the late deck boss Nick McGlashan.

“So sad. He was so young. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” a Discovery Channel spokesperson also said at the time.
