Blue singer Simon Webbe was a no-show for Derby’s big Christmas lights switch-on.

The 45-year-old singer was set to be the star of the special event on Saturday, with hundreds of locals and Blue fans waiting out in the cold to see the All Rise hit-maker.

Sadly, the Derby hopefuls were all left disappointed when Simon failed to show up for the exciting Christmas event.

Derby City Council have since confirmed that the singer was unable to attend the Christmas lights switch-on due to an issue with his car.

In a statement on Facebook, the organisers confirmed: “We’re really sorry but the fantastic Simon Webbe is unable to join us due to a car problem. We were hoping he’d be able to make it.

But things soon took a turn for the worst when Simon’s car got a flat tyre.

In a bid to reassure his fans after showing them the flat tyre, Simon insisted: “Don’t fret, I’ve got someone coming. They should be with me within the hour. I am hoping I can get there on time,

“Pray for me guys, I really don’t want to miss the show.”

Unfortunately, the singer did end up missing the special event and he insisted that he was ‘well gutted’ that he wasn’t able to make it on time.
