“Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person they’re almost indistinguishable” ❤️ -David Augsburger
This is just as true in personal relationships as it is in society at large. ❤️
What happens when we DON’T feel heard? We get frustrated. Angry. Enraged. ❤️
And when we do feel heard?… when we feel loved? We can create beautiful relationships. Harmony. Solutions. ❤️
And what do we all need to do to ensure that people are being heard? That WE are being heard? We must LISTEN. ❤️
We must be willing to listen FIRST. ❤️
This is HARD. it’s especially hard when you feel YOU aren’t being heard. You want the other person to listen first. That’s natural. ❤️
And yet…. the willingness to truly listen is the first and most necessary step. ❤️
Truly listening means:
❤️ Having the INTENTION to understand first, before attempting to make yourself understood
❤️ Suspending judgement
❤️ Listening with a totally open mind, WITHOUT formulating your own response
It ain’t easy. Not at all. Yet…. it’s the first step in resolving any kind of conflict. It’s crucial. ❤️
Let me know… what do you need someone to hear today? ❤️
