X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has backed Meghan Markle’s decision to make allegations of racism against the Royal family.
Alexandra Burke was hugged by Meghan during her final public appearance as a working member of the Royal Family last year.
She has now shared details of what Meghan said to her during the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey, as she described her “brave” decision to speak out in her Oprah Winfrey interview.
During the interview Meghan claimed racist comments were made to Harry about the potential skin colour of the couple’s then unborn child Archie.
Oprah revealed that Harry stressed “it was not his grandmother or grandfather who were part of those conversations”.

Alexandra, 32, told The Sun: “It was heartbreaking for me to watch that.
“They are a family who have things going on, just like everyone does.
“Meghan is the nicest person ever. When we met at the Commonwealth Service, she said wasn’t allowed to hug me because it was at the start of coronavirus — but it was right at the start, before everyone really knew what was going on. “
Alexandra explained Meghan told her ‘I’ve been advised not to hug or touch anyone, but I’m going to hug you anyway’, before squeezing her.

She added that she thanked Meghan for being an inspiration, and for being a voice as a black woman.
After video footage of the pair hugging was widely shared on Twitter, fans speculated about what the pair were saying to one anothe.
But at the time Alexandra remained tight-lipped about what was said between the pair.
Meghan and Prince Harry announced their decision to quit as senior members of royals just weeks after the service where they appeared alongside senior royals such as Prince William, Kate Middleton and the Queen.
