Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you; it means learning to respect and use your own brains and instincts; hence, grappling with hard work.

Life comes pre-packaged with stress. Things get a little out of control! These tend to be times when it becomes easy to blame others, or the circumstances around us.
⠀⠀
Owning what’s going on in our life is one of the most important & the greatest things we can do. Because when we own all that, we can really start to shape our future.
⠀⠀
Acknowledging the role I’ve played in my own life – the good bits AND the bad – has given me this sacred sense of freedom. It’s like I know I OWN myself despite everything that happens around me. If I succeed, I worked hard to win. If I screw up, I contributed to that in some way. Freedom is one of my core values & there’s no way I’m gonna get trapped again!

Rather than looking around for someone or something else to blame, we gotta accept that we (ourselves) are in charge of what’s going on.
⠀⠀
Sure, other people & factors influence, but we are responsible for our own actions & anything that happens within the boundaries of our control.
⠀⠀
Acknowledge that our own actions led us to the situation we’re in, whether we like it or not. Celebrate ourselves when we do something great. Own that cool presentation you did on zoom today, take credit for the hard work you put into it.

Being aware of our actions reinforces & restructures our emotional strength & esteem. It reduces vulnerability for negative outcomes. It feels cleaner & safer to own what we do, think or say – instead of allowing the world to manipulate us.
